The sketchbook contains a series of views on the Thames, near Twickenham, Windsor and Weybridge. A memorandum inside the front cover notes dates in the summer of 1804; the sketchbook may have been in use from that period. There is considerable homogeneity of style among the sketches, both in pen and in watercolour; they have stylistic affinities with the group of Thames watercolours of c.1806 (T.B.XCV; Nos. 114, 115). Some of the views identified by Finberg as Windsor, e.g. ff. 18, 19, 35 seem in fact to show Richmond or Hampton Court. This work is also available as a UVprint.
