A drawing made in connection with the series of north country views executed c.1818 for Whitaker's Richmondshire, though not one of the engraved subjects. It was acquired by Walter Fawkes.

Turner made studies around Lancaster in the 'Yorkshire sketchbook No.5 (T.B.CXLVII ff.32r etc.) A different view on Lancaster sands was made c.1826 for inclusion in the Picturesque Views in England and Wales (No.419).
