Engraved by R. Wallis for The Keepsake 1830 (Rawlinson 323). Turner made several sketches of Virginia Water, nearly all including the Chinese Pavilion, in the "Kenilworth' sketchbook of c.1829-30 (T.B.CCXXXVIII; No.442). A sketch corresponding to the left half of this watercolour is on f.73r. One of a pair of views of Virginia Water made for George IV, who, it is said, refused to pay for them; the pendant is untraced. It also was engraved for The Keepsake (Rawlinson No.322).
