001 - Radley Hall from the South-East | |
A companion view of Radley Hall from the north-west is T.B.III-C; both were enclosed by Turner in grey and yellow washline borders. Pencil drawings of the house occur in the 'Oxford' sketchbook of 1789 (T.B.II-2, 3, and 14). This book records country houses and scenery in the neighbourhood of Turner's uncle, who lived at Sunningwell near Oxford, where Turner often stayed.
