Perhaps based on the pencil sketch on f.62r of the 'Lake Thun' sketchbook (T.B.LXXVI). The series numbered LXXIX consists of nineteen large drawings of Swiss views, mainly in pencil heightened with white chalk. This example is unusually finished, but was evidently never intended to make one of the group of Swiss views sold to Walter Fawkes, during the years following this tour (see Nos.65, 67, 68 and 69).
