The inscription refers to the painting exhibited in Turner's Gallery in 1809 (No.152); Turner's monochrome drawing for the plate is in the Turner Bequest, CXVII-13; another version of it is in the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester. The plate, R.26, was mezzotinted by Charles Turner and published I January 1811 in Part V of the Liber Studiorum (see No. 106).
