109 - Mill near the Grande Chartreuse | |
Engraved in mezzotint over an etched outline by H. Dawe for part XI of the Liber Studiorum, 1816 (R.54). Categorised by Turner as 'Mountain' landscape. Although he made many drawings near the Chartreuse in 1802 ('Grenoble' sketchbook, T.B.LXXIV, ff.24-37) none corresponds at all closely with the subject of this design.
