Engraved by R. Brandard for Picturesque Views in England and Wales, 1829, Part VIII, No.2 (Rawlinson No.238). Derived from the drawing of Dunstanborough in the 'North of England' sketchbook of 1797 (No.23) which was first used for an oil painting and a watercolour and later became the basis of the Liber Studiorum plate (R.I4). This England and Wales watercolour was lent to the 1833 exhibition by Thomas Tomkinson, and later became one of the large number of England and Wales subjects owned by H. A. J. Munro of Novar, including 'Lancaster Sands' (No.419), 'Louth' (No. 422), 'Blenheim' (No.427), 'Ullswater' (No.428) and 'Richmond Terrace' (No.434).
