11. ‘England and Wales’ and Scotland 1826-38
427 - Blenheim House and Park - Oxford

Engraved by W. Radclyffe for Picturesque Views in England and Wales, Part XVI, No.2, 1833 (Rawlinson No. 270).

Based on pencil drawings in the 'Kenilworth' sketchbook of c.1830 (T.B.XXXVIII, esp. IIv and 12r). A colour-beginning of the subject is T.B.CCLXIII - 365, in which the light coming through the arch of the bridge and its reflection, in the form of a sun-like disc, is the focus of the design. Thomas Griffith lent the watercolour to the 1833 exhibition.
