Engraved by J. T. Willmore for Picturesque Views in England and Wales, 1835, Part XIX, No.4 (Rawlinson No.284). The engraving is No.429. The subject was probably suggested by Turner's visit to the lakes on his way to Scotland in 1831. He seems to have made several drawings of Ullswater, in the 'Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders' sketchbook (No.449) ff. 18v-24r.
