Automobiënnale

The Carruga was shown in a first version at the New Workshop in Brussels in 1983, on the occasion of an exhibition by Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven: "Whores and Prophets". The Carruga was made there by demolishing part of the building. The beams thus released were machined and sawed into the various parts which were fitted together according to the system of the ancient Roman chariot or 'Carruga'. During the opening of the exhibition, the Carruga served as a stage element in a performance by Club Moral.

For the AutomoBiennale at the Middelheim Museum in 1985, a large iron, barred cage was built on it, with a heavy DEUTZ truck engine trapped inside.

Saturday 1st of June 1985 -> Sunday 6th of October 1985 in Middelheimmuseum, Middelheimlaan, Antwerpen, Belgium.
